Problem: "no device selected" keeps re appearing

Help....

Yawcam works fine with my Creative webcam (an NX Pro) but after some hours of running displaying live video in the preview pane and saving pictures to file it will show a black window with the message like "no device selected" and of course from then just saves this to file.

I have to re-select the device and all works again but only for a little while.

Same problem with both drivers namely the "NX Pro" and "NX Pro (VFW)"

any suggestions.... version 0.3.2 build 2010-01-02 WinXP Sp3

I haven't been able to reproduce this myself, but have seen reports from other users with this problem.
Are you using the latest drivers for your web camera?

You could try the latest beta version and see if that makes any difference:

I'm not sure if this will help. It sounds like a simular problem I had with the USB ports shutting off.

Follow these instructions to keep the USB ports on...

1. Open "Start Menu", select "Settings", then menu item "Control Panel."

2. In "Control Panel" window click open the "System" icon.

3. When the "System Properties" box opens, select the "Hardware" tab, then click the "Device Manager" button.

4. When "Device Manager" opens, click the at "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" to expand it.

5. Right-click the first "USB Root Hub" item and select "Properties" from the menu.

6. Select the "Power Management" tab. Clear the checkmark from Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. Click "OK."

7. Repeat these steps for all the "USB Root Hubs."

I didn't have the problem with Yawcam but did with my MagicJack. It kept shutting off at random.

Your solution has resolved my problem.
