Yawcam forcing maximum fps rate

Using my IP cam's software, I set the cam's frame rate to 5 fps. All software I've used respects that setting but Yawcam appears to override it and force the cam to maximum frame rate. When I log into the cam, after using Yawcam, the framerate is at its maximum setting. Why is Yacam doing this and how can I prevent it? Is this a bug or a feature?
