yawcam and blue iris

Post by bovine »

I've been attempting to use yawcams stream/http function to get video from a USB camera attached to a remote computer into Blue Iris. I've yet to be able to make this work after playing around with dozens of combinations of the raw h264, jpg, mjpg, and other settings for IP cameras in BI.

Does any one have any ideas or thoughts on how to make this work? I did find an old post on here from 2011 detailing some of the steps but that didn't work.

Yawcam itself is a great little piece of kit and I'd love to use both pieces of software. I have 2 different mini computers that can just barely run the HD webcams. I'd like to get the video feeds to another much beefier i5 machine that can handle the encoding from a total of 5 streams.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You should be able to achieve this by setting Yawcam to use MJPEG as stream output.
Then setup Blue Iris to use an IP camera as input and point it to Yawcam's MJPEG stream.

Can somebody who is actually doing this chime in with actual, literal, exact BI settings?

BI's Network IP camera configuration dialog does not offer up "IP Camera".

My guess is that "MJPEG stream" is the one to choose, but I still can't get things working.

First thing that comes to mind is Video | Path...

I finally got it working.

For me, the critical component was BI | Camera Properties | Video | Network IP | Configure | Video | Path = /video.mjpg

Before that, I was getting 404: File Not Found.

Here's the BI dialog (NB that 10.0.0.10 is the local IP of the PC running BI): http://tinyurl.com/laqzjdd

And here are the HTTP and Stream settings in YawCam:

Only problem I have now is that BI seems to be seeing only 640x480 from the Logitech 9000 that YawCam is feeding upon.

Excelent post, :D I had several quality webcams in my closet, and now, I connected them with extension cables, allowing me to mount cameras through the windows of my house. The configuration was the same, without problems! Thanks for this great post, Yaw is fully compatible with Iris.
