Motion detect in large video files?

Hi! I’m pointing a camcorder at a bird table/bath for 12+ hours at a time but going through the footage afterwards to find something worthwhile can be a bit tedious. Would Yawcam be good for this? I do a lot of video work using FCPx but there's nothing in there that can help me in this area. Many thanks in advance for your ideas.
